Why not do something different and take the family away for a Christmas they will remember?

At the festive time, however, thoughts turn to traditional settings. Some owners will even get you into the festive spirit by decorating the cottage for you, so it will feel like Christmas straightaway, complete with tinsel!

Different parts of England have different local traditions and events to offer over Christmas and the run up to Christmas. It’s also a good time to browse the shops, tea rooms and food stalls for local produce and gifts with yuletide appeal.

Of course, the Christmas period means streets festooned with sparkling lights. Cornwall is lit up in style, with fabulous displays at Angarrack and also at the fishing port of Mousehole, where floating lights in the harbour add something extra. Penzance is the place for a candlelight procession.
